Well the public is always the last to know important information it seems, especially when it involves Apple and Facebook, unless they are promoting something. It turns out in a recent report that both “Masters of The Universe”, Apples CEO Tim Cook and Meta’s (FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg as Breitbart labels them, handed over data of their private users to hackers. The hackers, using forged documents, posed as officials of law enforcement.
This occurred in Mid-2021. Hopefully victims were notified that their subscribers details, including customer addresses, phone numbers, and IP addresses were turned over to these tricksters. According to sources emergency requests of this kind are usually only provided with search warrants / subpoena signed by a judge. Are the “Masters” just now getting around to letting the public know this?
A spokesperson for Meta (Facebook) Andy Stone was quoted saying:
”We review every data request for legal sufficiency and use advanced systems and processes to validate law enforcement requests and detect abuse. We block known compromised accounts from making requests and work with law enforcement to respond to incidents involving suspected fraudulent requests, as we have done in this case.”
Good Mr. Stone, but what about after the fact violations of security?
Apple was said to have referenced its law enforcement guidelines, which state that a supervisor for the government / law enforcement agent that submits the user data request “may be contacted and asked to confirm to Apple that the emergency request was legitimate.” Again, what is the level of security if “may be contacted” is the depth of their interest in preserving personal data?
Wow guys - how did this one get by your vast number of corporate watchdogs? Americas personal and private information is no casual matter. Citizens need to stand vigil on their own cyber data because if hackers can get by these mega information guys and their bastion of security forces, Americans will continue to be targeted.
