‘Two-Tier Justice:’ Soros-Linked Prosecutor Criticized For Tesla Vandal Case

 April 25, 2025

Hennepin County’s top prosecutor faces outrage for shielding a state employee who vandalized Tesla vehicles, Breitbart reported on Thursday.

Mary Moriarty, the county attorney with financial ties to George Soros, declined to press charges against Dylan Bryan Adams, a 33-year-old Minnesota Department of Human Services data analyst. Adams admitted to damaging six Tesla cars, causing $20,000 in losses.

Moriarty’s decision not to charge Adams has sparked accusations of a double standard in Minnesota’s justice system. The vandalism, which affected six victims, prompted the Minneapolis Police Department to arrest Adams and present a case file to Moriarty’s office. Instead of pursuing charges, Moriarty opted for a diversion program to help Adams keep his job and pay restitution.

Critics argue Moriarty’s approach undermines accountability and public safety. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara expressed frustration, noting that his department thoroughly investigated the crime trend and identified Adams as the culprit. The Minnesota DHS is reviewing Adams’ employment but has not clarified his current status.

Police Frustration Over Declining Charges

O’Hara emphasized the police’s diligent work in the case. “The Minneapolis Police Department did its job,” he said, highlighting the effort to investigate and arrest Adams. The case file was submitted to Moriarty’s office for consideration of charges, yet no prosecution followed.

The diversion approach, per the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, “helps to ensure the individual keeps their job and can pay restitution.” This decision has drawn sharp criticism from public figures and commentators. Many see it as evidence of favoritism toward certain offenders.

Republican House Majority Whip Tom Emmer called Moriarty’s record a “joke” that “prioritizes criminals over safety.” He accused her of leniency toward serious offenders, including those involved in violent crimes. Emmer’s remarks reflect broader conservative concerns about prosecutorial accountability.

Accusations of Inconsistent Justice

The backlash intensified due to Moriarty’s handling of a separate vandalism case. She filed felony charges against a 19-year-old woman accused of keying a co-worker’s car, a less costly act than Adams’ vandalism. This discrepancy has fueled claims of selective enforcement.

Conservative commentator Benny Johnson labeled the situation “two-tier justice.” He questioned why Moriarty pursued charges against the young woman but not Adams, who caused significant damage. Social media echoed this sentiment, with users calling Moriarty’s decisions hypocritical.

Libs of TikTok, a prominent conservative account, decried the “absolute hypocrisy” in Moriarty’s actions. “INSANE,” the account posted, highlighting the contrast between the two vandalism cases. Public outrage on platforms like X has amplified calls for scrutiny of Moriarty’s prosecutorial choices.

Public Outrage on Social Media

X users expressed anger, with one stating, “You’re a disgrace.” Another demanded, “Why did you file felony charges against a 19-year-old woman for allegedly keying her co-worker's car, but refused to charge the Tim staffer who did over $20k in damage to 6 Teslas?” Such comments reflect widespread distrust in Moriarty’s judgment.

Collin Rugg, another commentator, remarked, “No wonder why Minneapolis is turning into a sh*t hole.” He noted that police provided evidence of Adams committing multiple felonies, yet Moriarty declined to act. This has led to accusations that political connections influence her decisions.

One X user went further, urging, “The Feds need to investigate Mary Moriarty.” The sentiment underscores a belief that her ties to Soros may affect her impartiality. Critics argue this case exemplifies a broader pattern of leniency toward certain offenders.

Impact on Victims and Community

The vandalism case affected at least six victims, with damages totaling over $20,000. O’Hara emphasized the toll on those impacted, stating, “This case impacted at least six different victims.” Victims and police investigators alike feel frustrated by the lack of charges.

“Our investigators are always frustrated when the cases they poured their hearts into are declined,” O’Hara said. He added that victims often share this frustration, feeling let down by the justice system. The decision has raised concerns about deterring future crimes in Minneapolis.

Any frustration, O’Hara clarified, “should be directed solely at her office.” The controversy has intensified scrutiny of Moriarty’s leadership and her financial ties to Soros. For many, this case symbolizes a justice system that fails to uphold fairness and accountability.
