Trump suggests imprisonment for Biden over 'Arctic Frost' discoveries

 October 31, 2025

President Donald Trump has ignited a firestorm by seemingly advocating for the jailing of his predecessor over a contentious Biden-era investigation that targeted his allies.

This unfolding drama centers on Trump’s sharp criticism of the Arctic Frost probe, a Biden administration effort to investigate attempts by some of Trump’s supporters to challenge the 2020 election results with an alternative slate of electors, which later led to a federal indictment against him that was ultimately dismissed.

The New York Post reported that back in spring 2022, the Arctic Frost investigation kicked off with a memo that leaned heavily on CNN interview clips to suggest Trump’s involvement in a scheme to undo the 2020 election outcome.

That probe, which eventually fell under the control of former special counsel Jack Smith, cast a wide net, seeking data on over 400 Republican-leaning groups and individuals, including 160 prominent GOP figures and even telecommunications records of eight sitting senators.

The investigation’s reach and methods have drawn heavy criticism from multiple former prosecutors and FBI agents, who pointed out that historical efforts to present alternative electors in 1876 and 1960 never led to criminal charges.

Trump, clearly incensed, took to Truth Social to share a Just the News report highlighting these critiques, suggesting the probe’s foundation was flimsy at best and a political witch hunt at worst.

Trump’s Fiery Truth Social Response

In one of his posts, Trump didn’t hold back, stating, “He is a CRIMINAL AND SHOULD BE IN JAIL,” though he refrained from directly naming his predecessor, leaving many to speculate about the target of his ire.

“A MAJOR LOWLIFE AND FAILURE. An ugly person, both inside and out!” Trump continued, adding fuel to the fire while expressing glee at watching the unnamed figure “squirm” under scrutiny.

While the White House declined to clarify whether Trump was pointing fingers at the former president or someone else when contacted earlier this week, the implication hangs heavy in the political air.

Trump’s frustration didn’t stop there; by Wednesday, he turned his ire directly at Jack Smith, blasting the former special counsel over revelations tied to the probe’s scope and tactics.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan echoed Trump’s sentiments, demanding Smith face questioning before the committee, and sharply criticized the investigation as a politically motivated attack.

Jordan told Just the News, “It looks like this was just the same old weaponization, same old political focus, focus on politics, going after your political enemies,” drawing parallels to past controversies over dubious evidence used against conservatives.

Defending the Probe Amid Criticism

Smith, for his part, has stood by his work, insisting that the prosecution of Trump and several associates was justified and would have led to convictions had circumstances not shifted.

Yet, with the case against Trump tossed out after his recent political victory, the debate over Arctic Frost feels like another chapter in the endless tug-of-war between justice and politics, leaving many Americans wondering if the probe was ever about truth or just settling scores.
