Trump Says Democrats ‘Played’ Mitch McConnell ‘Like A Fiddle’ On Reconciliation Bill

Stating Democrats bamboozled the GOP on the $700 billion Inflation Reduction Act, former President Donald Trump ripped Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) stating in a post-

“Mitch McConnell got played like a fiddle with the vote today by the Senate Democrats,”... “First, he gave them the fake Infrastructure Bill, then Guns, never used the Debt Ceiling for negotiating purposes (gave it away for NOTHING!), and now this.” Adding “Mitch doesn’t have a clue – he is sooo bad for the Republican Party!”

-Former President Donald Trump

McConnell was outmaneuvered on the Inflation Reduction Act reconciliation bill by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, after the passage of the $280 billion “Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) Act” on July 28. Republicans helped to pass CHIPS and then were outvoted on the reconciliation act soon after.

According to Breitbart News-

“While Republicans were split on the merits of the legislation, most Republicans, including House Republican leadership, did not want to pass the CHIPS legislation if Democrats were to pursue a reconciliation bill to pass climate change, Obamacare, and other leftist priorities. Senate Republicans, with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) supporting the bill, ensured the passage of the CHIPS bill this week.”

Soon after that bill passed the Senate, Schumer and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced they had a deal in place on the Inflation Reduction Act, a scaled-back version of President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better, which Manchin opposed last year.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) said, after Manchin’s and Schumer’s agreement was made public –

“We got our ass kicked. It’s just that simple. Looks to me like we got rinky-dooed. That’s a Louisiana word for ‘screwed,'” “And we got our ass kicked. That’s the way my people back home see it.”

With Vice President Kamala Harris serving as the tiebreaker for the left, the Inflation Reduction Act passed the Senate Sunday along a partisan 50-50 vote. Reportedly-

“The Inflation Reduction Act focuses on reducing the deficit and curbing inflation, extending enhanced Obamacare subsidies, spending more than $300 billion on climate change programs, and allowing Medicare to negotiate the price of drugs.”

How much inflation will this legislation reduce? – None, and it may actually increase inflation in the near term. It does, however, give the special interest left, a vast amount to spend on their theory of climate change. What a joke.

According to the Penn Wharton Budget Model released, the bill will have no effect on inflation over the longer run. In the near term, they estimate it will produce a very small increase in inflation for the first few years, up to 0.05 percent points in 2024. After that it reportedly starts shrinking inflation a bit, however this is likely because the model incorrectly assumes the limited spending authorizations go away. Inflationary effects will continue if the new spending programs are extended. So, when was the last time Congress really cut spending, especially on new programs that are attached to special interest groups?

According to the Committee for a Responsible Budget estimates, the bill which is touted to “reduce inflation” by lowering the budget deficit, by increasing taxes and controlling some drug costs, may produce cost savings and an increases revenue by $470 billion. However, because it does not address the core problem, of too much money, chasing limited goods and services, none of that is likely to reduce inflation. Democratic statements about the proposal are quite frankly wrong and misleading. No surprise there.

Trump, who has called on Republicans to oust McConnell from leadership, was provided another opening to go after the GOP senate leader, when the Democrats’ were able to “play” the Republicans. McConnell appeared Wednesday on Fox New Channel’s Special Report, telling host Brett Baier, that he welcomes a challenger in a potential contest for GOP Senate leader. He stated-

“Well, look at it this way. I have been elected eight times without opposition,” and  “If I have an opponent, I don’t own this job. And there’s always an election every two years for leader. If anybody wants to challenge me, have at it.”

The current system is broken, self-serving and largely has largely has fallen victim of the Democratic liberal left. Republicans with their status quo, business as usual attitude, do not help, but rather enable the swamp to remain stagnant and putrid.  With its vast network of news media outlets, to support the corruption that exists, Washington D.C is a hot bed of deception and secrecy. The whole system needs cleaned and “rebooted”. Be prepared to speak loudly for change in the upcoming mid-terms. America’s VOTE = America’s VOICE!

“If governments did not mislead their citizens so often, there would be less need for secrecy, and if leaders knew they could not rely on keeping the public in the dark about what they are doing, they would have a powerful incentive to behave better.”
