Trump administration will accept gifted Air Force One replacement from Qatar

 May 12, 2025

President Donald Trump’s second term kicks off with a shiny new toy—a $400 million Boeing 747-8 from Qatar’s royal family. This isn’t just any plane; it’s a “flying palace” set to become Air Force One, raising eyebrows and ethical questions. While Democrats cry foul, the deal’s been greenlit by legal eagles.

ABC News reported that the Trump administration is poised to accept this luxurious jumbo jet, which will serve as Air Force One and later transfer to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation by January 1, 2029.

Qatar’s gift, valued at a cool $400 million, bypasses the usual procurement red tape. It’s a bold move that’s got the left clutching their pearls.

Trump got a sneak peek of the 13-year-old jet at West Palm Beach International Airport on February 16, 2025. Described as a “very public and transparent transaction” by the man himself, the tour was a flex of America First swagger. Too bad the woke crowd can’t handle a little diplomatic flair.

A Lavish Gift From Qatar

The plane, a private Boeing 747-8, will be handed over to the U.S. Air Force for a presidential makeover.

L3Harris, an aviation outfit, is tasked with turning this Qatari gem into a fortress fit for the commander-in-chief. The Air Force will foot the bill for the transfer because apparently, freedom isn’t free.

White House counsel and DOJ lawyers, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, gave the deal a thumbs-up. Bondi’s legal memo last week confirmed the Pentagon’s acceptance doesn’t violate bribery laws or the Constitution’s emoluments clause. Sorry, haters—turns out this gift is as clean as a whistle.

The arrangement sidesteps the Department of Defense accepting it directly, not Trump personally, before it lands with the Trump Presidential Library Foundation.

“Any gift given by a foreign government is always accepted in full compliance with all applicable laws,” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. The left’s conspiracy theories just crashed on takeoff.

The current Air Force One fleet, two Boeing 747-200s from 1990, is creaking along like a Biden speech. A 2018 Boeing contract to replace them has been plagued by delays and cost overruns, with delivery now pegged for 2027. Trump’s frustration with the slow pace is no secret, and he’s tapped Elon Musk to light a fire under Boeing’s tail.

Qatar’s jet, dubbed a “temporary use” by their media attaché, Ali Al-Ansari, fills the gap nicely. It’s a 13-year-old plane, but with a $400 million price tag, it’s no budget buy. The left’s whining about “premium foreign influence” smells like sour grapes.

Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer took to social media, snarking, “Nothing says 'America First' like Air Force One, brought to you by Qatar.” Nice try, Chuck, but America First doesn’t mean America Only. Diplomacy sometimes comes with a first-class seat.

Democrats Cry Corruption

Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., chimed in, claiming “the corruption is brazen” and citing the Constitution’s No Title of Nobility clause. Schiff’s grandstanding ignores the DOJ’s legal blessing and the fact that the Pentagon, not Trump, is accepting the jet. Maybe he’s just mad his party’s stuck flying coach.

The gift was expected to be unveiled during Trump’s Qatar visit, his first foreign trip of term two, but a senior White House official nixed that idea. No glitzy handover ceremony means no photo-op for the outrage brigade to exploit. Smart move, keeping the focus on policy, not optics.

Leavitt doubled down, stating, “President Trump's Administration is committed to full transparency.” The administration’s openness about the deal undercuts the left’s narrative of shadowy dealings. Transparency isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a slap in the face to the woke complainers.

Trump’s social media post claiming Democrats want the administration to pay “TOP DOLLAR” for the jet is classic MAGA bravado. The reality? Qatar’s footing the bill, and the U.S. gets a state-of-the-art plane without taxpayer dollars taking a hit.

The overhaul by L3Harris will include top-secret comms gear, because even Air Force One needs to be Fort Knox in the sky. The Air Force’s role in covering transfer costs ensures the plane meets military specs without draining public coffers. Efficiency and strength—sounds like Trump’s playbook.
