Caught in a web of fraud and unauthorized migration, Abdul Dahir Ibrahim, a Somalian national, has landed in hot water with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to Breitbart, his arrest at the McCook ICE facility in Nebraska has sparked controversy, not just for his criminal history, but for his well-documented ties to prominent Minnesota Democrats like Gov. Tim Walz, Rep. Ilhan Omar, and former Minneapolis mayoral candidate Omar Fateh.
Let’s rewind to Ibrahim’s early troubles: before even setting foot in the United States, he was convicted in Canada for asylum and welfare fraud.
By April 3, 2004, an immigration judge had had enough, ordering his removal from the U.S. due to the extensive fraud tied to his name.
Yet, somehow, Ibrahim lingered, racking up charges in Minnesota for providing false information to law enforcement and driving without a valid license, not to mention a pile of parking and traffic violations.
His rap sheet reads like a cautionary tale, but what’s raising eyebrows now is how he managed to cozy up to some of Minnesota’s most influential progressive figures.
Social media posts from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) didn’t hold back, pointing out, “Criminal illegal alien, Abdul Dahir Ibrahim, has been linked to Minnesota’s top sanctuary politicians.”
The DHS added that Ibrahim was seen in pictures with Gov. Walz, Rep. Omar, and Omar Fateh, a connection that’s hard to ignore when discussing immigration enforcement—or the lack thereof—in the state.
While these photos don’t prove wrongdoing by the politicians, they do raise questions about who’s mingling with whom in Minnesota’s political circles, especially amid a backdrop of lax border policies.
Zooming out, Ibrahim’s case isn’t an isolated incident; Breitbart News reported a staggering $1 billion in welfare fraud tied to Minnesota, much of it allegedly involving Somali migrants.
Breitbart didn’t mince words, stating, “The massive $1 billion in welfare fraud in Minnesota is causing many to ask what Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar knew and when she knew it about the fraud committed right under her nose by the Somali community in Minnesota.” While Rep. Omar’s direct involvement remains unproven, reports of her close ties to organizations and individuals named in these fraud cases add fuel to an already blazing fire of public skepticism.
ICE’s recent arrests of several unauthorized Somali migrants in Minneapolis signal a broader crackdown, aligning with President Donald Trump’s push to curb illegal immigration and related crime.
Meanwhile, hundreds of government workers in Minnesota are pointing fingers at Gov. Walz, accusing him of ignoring massive fraud and even retaliating against whistleblowers who dared to sound the alarm.
Ibrahim’s arrest, while a small piece of this puzzle, shines a harsh light on Minnesota’s struggles with fraud and immigration enforcement, leaving many to wonder if state leaders are more focused on political optics than protecting taxpayer dollars.
