Prince Andrew and ex-wife under investigation by the London police for financial misconduct

 November 9, 2025

Once a symbol of royal prestige, Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor now finds himself in a legal quagmire that could shatter his life in the UK.

The saga enveloping Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, involves separate investigations by London police into allegations of financial misconduct and misuse of charity funds, with potential jail time for Andrew and the specter of exile looming over both.

The New York Post reported that Andrew, who served as the UK's trade envoy from 2001 to 2011, built a reputation for questionable associations during his tenure, rubbing shoulders with dubious figures in nations like Libya, Kazakhstan, and Laos.

His penchant for luxury didn’t help, as he opted for five-star hotels over embassy accommodations, racking up hefty bills that raised eyebrows then and suspicion now.

Fast forward to 2025, and Andrew’s titles, including “Prince” and “His Royal Highness,” were stripped on Nov. 3 amid allegations tying him to the late Jeffrey Epstein as a client.

Adding fuel to the fire, police are probing claims that in 2011, Andrew pressured an officer to dig up personal details on Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of grave misconduct.

Accusations from Beyond the Grave

Giuffre, who tragically took her own life at 41 in April 2025, left behind a haunting memoir, “Nobody’s Girl,” published posthumously in October, alleging Epstein forced her into encounters with Andrew, including when she was just 17.

The UK campaign group Republic is now pushing for prosecution, arguing Andrew could face charges ranging from corruption to misconduct in public office—hardly the legacy a former royal might hope for.

Historian Andrew Lownie doesn’t mince words on the matter, declaring, “Andrew is going to be charged with various public offenses and misconduct in public office … he’s toast.”

Lownie’s grim forecast suggests a downfall not tied to the darkest accusations but to fiscal misdeeds, noting, “Won’t go down for sex trafficking, it will be for financial impropriety.”

While Andrew’s legal storm brews, his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, 66, isn’t escaping scrutiny, as investigators examine whether she funneled earnings from book deals and endorsements into her own pockets instead of promised charitable causes.

The idea of a duchess using charity as a personal piggy bank is the kind of story that fuels distrust in elite circles—precisely the sort of entitlement conservatives often warn against in a world obsessed with progressive excuses.

Exile on the Horizon for Both?

At 65, Andrew faces the very real possibility of jail time, while both he and Ferguson might be forced to flee the UK if the legal heat intensifies.

Yet, even as the walls close in, there’s a human element to this downfall—two individuals, once at the pinnacle of privilege, now grappling with consequences that could uproot their lives, a reminder that no title shields one from accountability.
