Musk “Exits” Twitter Counsel Jim Baker for Alleged Role In Suppressing Twitter Files

 December 8, 2022

Twitter CEO Elon Musk, has now officially explained that former Twitter deputy general counsel, Jim Baker, was fired for allegedly suppressing info “important to the public dialogue.” Asked if Baker tried to explain himself, Musk replied, “Yes. His explanation was …unconvincing.”

On Tuesday, Reporter Matt Taibbi had noted that former Twitter deputy general counsel Jim Baker was fired, explaining that one of the reasons Musk fired Baker was for “vetting the first batch of ‘Twitter Files’ without knowledge of new management,” which likely includes Musk. Essentially, “vetting” means that Baker could have “scrubbed” the files clean of anything incriminating of himself, others or possibly his former employer the FBI.

In Taibbis’ explanation of the process by which he, and reporter Bari Weiss, reported on the Twitter Files, that came from a lawyer close with Twitter’s new management, when Bakers’ name was reportedly proffered - Weiss was shocked to find out that Baker was in charge of releasing the files. In fact, Weiss said-

“My jaw hit the floor,”

-Reporter Bari Weiss

Baker is the same controversial figure, who was involved with the Steele Dossier, involving allegations of the 2016 Trump campaign, allegedly colluding with the Russian government, Taibbi explained. Further, he wrote,

“Baker is a controversial figure. He has been something of a Zelig of FBI controversies dating back to 2016, from the Steele Dossier to the Alfa-Server mess. He resigned in 2018 after an investigation into leaks to the press.”

-Reporter Matt Taibbi

A nationally recognized legal scholar, Jonathan Turley, a explained more about Baker:

“Baker has been featured repeatedly in the Russian investigations launched by the Justice Department, including the hoax involving the Russian Alfa Bank. When Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann wanted to plant the bizarre false claim of a secret communications channel between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, Baker was his go-to, speed-dial contact. (Baker would later testify at Sussmann’s trial). Baker’s name also appeared prominently in controversies related to the other Russian-related FBI allegations against Trump. He was effectively forced out due to his role and reportedly found himself under criminal investigation.”

- Jonathan Turley,

Reportedly Turley also wrote that, after leaving the FBI, “Twitter seemed eager to hire Baker.” He also noted that Baker was one of the key players behind Twitter’s suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story.

That Baker worked for Twitter, likely added to the reason that Twitter was so bold in its suppression of the truth in the “Lap Top From Hell” cover up. At the FBI, Baker was used to participating in twisting the truth, even creating the lies that interfered with a national presidential campaign. That he has currently survived a criminal investigation to date, is also a mystery.

Americans concerned for suppression of the truth are likely pleased that Musk has fired him. What Baker was able to delete from the files at Twitter remains to be seen. The stench of the unwinding, off-lidding and uncovering of what has gone on at this media giant is horrific. Musk, for all his seeming quirks – is really getting to the truth of things and Twitter is so far surviving. It would seem – the dark bottom of the proverbial barrel is yet to be seen. Stay tuned.
