Mitt Romney: A Donald Trump Comeback Would Render America ‘Incurable’

According to Mitt Romney, a political comeback by Donald Trump would render America’s “denial, deceit, and distrust” - “incurable.”

The failed, 2012 Republican presidential candidate, in his op-ed entitled, “America Is in Denial,”  chastised Americans for -

“blithely dismissing threats that could prove cataclysmic.” Identifying the chief  threat is” Trump,…who “would feed the sickness, probably rendering it incurable,”  postulating” …“I have witnessed time and again—in myself and in others—a powerful impulse to believe what we hope to be the case,” he continued… “A classic example of denial comes from Donald Trump: “I won in a landslide.” Perhaps this is a branch of the same delusion that leads people to feed money into slot machines: Because I really want to win, I believe that I will win.”

-Senator Mitt Romney

Despite reports that the Joe Biden took part in his ongoing family’s corrupt business schemes, Romney still praises Joe Biden as “a genuinely good man”… (who Romney claims) has yet been unable to break through our national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust. A return of Donald Trump would feed the sickness, probably rendering it incurable,”

Like Biden, in his solemn July 4th speech, Romney fearfully bemoans a possible run by Trump stating-

“I hope for a president who can rise above the din to unite us behind the truth,” Romney added.” Several contenders with experience and smarts stand in the wings; we added watch to see if they also possess the requisite character and ability to bring the nation together in confronting our common reality.”

-Senator Mitt Romney

Though Romney does not specify, who he is referencing as “several contenders with experience and smarts”, polls indicate that Trump leads in a hypothetical GOP primary with a 40-point advantage over Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), with third place going to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

On the Democratic side, according to the polls, Biden leads narrowly over Vice President Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Also, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) who may also have plans to run in 2024, has not yet captured any polled voters’ interest in him.

Sadly, in his address, Romney sounds very strangely like Joe Biden - in his pensive plea for America to stay the course, focused on the worrisome “half-empty glass” he sees he is holding - lost in his world of “what might be”. Romneys’ fearmongering words, “oh woe is me attitude” and, “I hope” - is typical of the Democratic party – not the Republicans.

Romney is not to be trusted, largely because he is not a good judge of character, nor is he given to holding a line for the republican party with whom he seems to constantly disagree. Perhaps he’s not the traitor that Liz Chaney has proven to be on the Jan.6th Special Committee, but he has shown himself to be more interested in being a declared centrist, than standing up for what is best for America. Like the democrats, he appears to seek peace with, at the expense of doing what is right, Romney is sure to sell America out - given the chance. One anonymous blogger on Bretbart News, referring to Romney, put it this way-

“Once a RINO, always a RINO, right to the end. Romney is a disgrace, and, contrary to his delusions, Trump might save America from its present state of peril under Biden, a "genuinely corrupt, senile buffoon."
