Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago Ends 2022 With 723 Murder / Homicides

 January 1, 2023

If a legacy is what is left behind as we pass through this life, considering that for which we are responsible, is vitally important. Sadly, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and her administration allowed the year 2022, to end with the tragic figure of at least 723 murders. Chicago, once a thriving city, is now a dangerous place and in decline thanks to its’ Democratic leadership. Crime is literally driving major corporations like Tysons Foods, among others, to leave for safer circumstances.

Throughout the year, every day, week and especially on holidays, crime has been noticeably climbing to new heights in Chicago under Lightfoot’s leadership. Loath to jail, prosecute and / or incarcerate criminals, Lightfoot’s administration saw a massive increase in crime in 2022. Her protective policies regarding criminals is akin to Biden’s open-door policy for illegal migrants, which is destroying America - by the millions now. Lightfoot’s administration is no different – with her hugely negative impact on the city of Chicago.

As of December 30, the Chicago Sun-Times reported the city was at 723 murders / homicides for the year. Accordingly, the outlet observed that motor vehicle theft in Chicago was up 95 percent in 2022, when contrasted with motor vehicle theft in 2021. Additionally, theft, in general, increased 50 percent, robbery increased ten percent and burglary increased ten percent over those figures from 2021.

Breitbart News had formerly noted that “2021 was the deadliest year Chicago had witnessed in a quarter of a century”. So what title should be attributed to how 2022 ended? What is more poignant than “deadliest”?

2022 was a truly a new low for Chicago as a whole. Surprisingly, some city leaders spoke out about the fact that the 723 murders / homicides currently on the books for 2022, represents a slight decline over the 2021 number of 797 murder / homicides.  That does not account, however, for the massive number of increased assaults, shootings, car-jackings, burglaries and the like, that people survived, rather than died from. These same city leaders were quick to note, that the city is still in a dangerous place.

One such example is, Susan Less, former deputy mayor for public safety, who said-

“[We] should not be patting ourselves on the back when the … absolute number of shootings and homicides is so high that people are afraid to do their daily functions. We are still in a crisis.”

-Susan Less, Chicago Former Deputy Mayor For Public Safety

Mayor Lightfoot and her administration have successfully created a seemingly permanent crisis of crime, for the once thriving city of Chicago and enter 2023 on the heels of making their city one of the most dangerous places to live, visit and or do business in the U.S. in 2022. In keeping stride, alongside her other Democratic counterparts, in Los Angeles (Bass), New York (Adams), Portland (Wheeler), and San Francisco (Breed), just to name a few, Lightfoot has achieved noteworthy status. She certainly lives up to the following study on crime as it relates to her Democratic leadership.

In a recent study published by the Journal of Student Research, Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT it was reported that-

“Surprisingly, among the 20 most populated cities, only the average robbery rate is significantly higher in cities with a Democratic mayor. Among cities in the next two highest populated groups, murder, robbery, and aggravated assault rates are statistically higher in cities Democrats control. And, when all 100 of America’s largest cities are grouped together, all violent crime rates (with the exception of rape) are significantly higher in cities with Democratic mayors.”

Lightfoot’s rants, boasts and self-aggrandizing public speeches, are not what she will be remembered for, but rather her neglectful leadership of one of America’s formerly great cities. The “Windy City” as it has been called, has now been  blown away by Lightfoot’s neglectful policies – Her true legacy to Chicago and its citizenry.

"Leaders who don't listen will eventually be surrounded by people who have nothing to say."
