Mask or not to Mask: Americans Can Finally Breath

After two years of being forced to wear a mask on airplanes, Americans can finally take them off. A U.S. District Judge has ruled that the federal travel mask mandate is unlawful. This means that it is now up to the individual American citizen to decide whether or not to wear a mask. Cheers and applause erupted from passengers on airplanes as they took off their masks mid-flight. It is clear that if the decision had been left up to them, many people would have gone without a mask a long time ago.

Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, the Federal Judge who said the agency (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) overstepped its authority, made this announcement after the CDC extended the travel mask mandate until May 3.

Though the CDC obviously does not agree with that ruling and they are looking towards an appeal, made with U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), to reimpose President Joe Biden’s mask mandate for airports and other federal transportation as soon as possible.

But till then it was said in response, the government will not reinforce making mask's necessary to travel till it officially appeals the decision to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

It is a step in the right direction for America. Let us hope that this trend continues and that we can soon put this pandemic masking state behind us. Thank you, Judge Mizelle, for putting the power back into the hands of the people!
