Alejandro Mayorkas Claims ISIS-Linked Illegal Immigrants Pose No Threat To Americans

 June 26, 2024

In a recent MSNBC interview, Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated there’s no evidence linking over 400 migrants to any plots against the U.S., despite their connection with a suspected ISIS-smuggling network.

Breitbart reported that Mayorkas has forcefully clarified recent concerns over the potential dangers posed by migrants linked to ISIS-affiliated networks. He wants Americans to believe that smugglers tied to ISIS are nothing to be concerned about.

During a televised conversation on MSNBC's "Morning Joe", Mayorkas addressed reports highlighting security concerns about these migrants, ensuring that their intention to harm the United States has not been substantiated through evidence.

The fact these individuals were tied to ISIS is reason enough to make sure these people can't enter the United States. However, Mayorkas doesn't care about that and is knowingly letting terrorist smugglers enter the U.S.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski brought to light an NBC News report stating the Department of Homeland Security had identified certain immigrants from Central Asia and other regions as potential subjects of security concern due to their migration through channels potentially affiliated with ISIS.

Letting In Terrorists

While acknowledging the identification of these individuals as subjects of concern, Mayorkas rejected any inference that suggested they were part of a plot against America.

He elaborated on the procedures in place, stating, “We screen and vet individuals at the time of encounter. If we learn of derogatory information, we take enforcement action.” He reassured viewers that the Homeland Security team is acting with 'extreme caution' in managing the potential risks associated with illegal migration.

The topic of migrant processing and the existing immigration laws also surfaced during the interview.

Mayorkas pointed out acknowledged operational challenges, including limitations around detention capacity, which have been perennial issues not confined to any single administration but spanning decades, back to when Mayorkas served as a federal prosecutor in the 1990s.

It is within this context that the Secretary touched upon the measures taken after the president’s proclamation aimed at reducing the number of individuals released into U.S. communities while awaiting immigration proceedings.

Despite significant drops in these numbers, Mayorkas underscored the necessity of occasionally releasing individuals into the community, coupling such actions with stringent monitoring frameworks like Alternatives to Detention.

But it isn't necessary to occasionally release individuals into the community when deportation is an option.

Should any of these individuals commit violent acts or terrorism, President Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas should be held directly responsible.

Immigration System Calls for Congressional Action

Throughout the discussion, Mayorkas returned frequently to the theme of systemic problems within the U.S. immigration framework.

He criticized the system as 'broken', a sentiment echoed across different sectors of government and society, which he argues, requires comprehensive legislative reform, unchanged since 1996.

While the concerns about security risks associated with migrants linked to potentially dangerous groups are valid and subject to intense scrutiny, Homeland Security’s current evidence suggests no immediate threats from these individuals. Secretary Mayorkas’ conversation on MSNBC serves both as a clarification and a reassurance, providing a snapshot of the broader challenges and ongoing responses shaping U.S. immigration policy today.
