New revelations suggest that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recognized her part in the security breaches during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. This comes from undisclosed footage obtained from HBO by a House subcommittee.
A previously unseen documentary shows Nancy Pelosi admitting responsibility for the Capitol's security failures during the January 6, 2021 attack.
The footage, recorded by Alexandra Pelosi, was initially not made public or archived by the January 6 Select Committee, controlled at the time by Democrats.
The committee, led by Vice-chair Liz Cheney and Chair Bennie Thompson, had access to this footage but chose not to release it or transfer its ownership following the shift in congressional majority in early 2023.
The Republican-majority House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, headed by Barry Loudermilk, sought the footage directly from HBO after realizing it had been withheld. They obtained the recording and disclosed it to the public, raising questions about the transparency and intentions behind the management of evidence related to January 6.
The content of the disclosed video is substantial, as it captures former Speaker Nancy Pelosi admitting her responsibility for the failures in Capitol security during the crisis.
Specifically, the footage shows Pelosi revealing that she had a role in not deploying the National Guard on that tumultuous day, a decision that has been under scrutiny since the event.
Chairman Loudermilk emphasized the significance of the revelation, accusing the previous committee of hiding evidence that didn't align with their narrative, which largely blamed former President Donald Trump for inciting the riot.
“As Nancy Pelosi was being evacuated from the Capitol on January 6, 2021, she admitted that, as Speaker of the House, she was responsible for the security failures, and for not having the National Guard at the Capitol,” Loudermilk explained.
Following the breach, Pelosi spearheaded the formation of a Select Committee to investigate January 6, which Republicans criticized for being heavily biased against Trump.
According to Loudermilk, Pelosi spent $20 million of taxpayer money on the committee that aimed to build a narrative pinning the blame on Trump, while suppressing contradictory evidence.
“However, after the dust settled from the breach of the Capitol, she spent 20 million taxpayer dollars for her January 6 Select Committee to create a narrative that shifted the blame on President Trump. The Democrats’ partisan select committee went to great lengths to suppress and hide evidence that didn’t support their predetermined narrative about that day, including this video of Speaker Pelosi admitting that she was responsible for the security failures at the Capitol,” Loudermilk asserted.
The release of this footage has stirred significant public and political debate, especially regarding the transparency and accountability of high-ranking officials during critical events.
Furthermore, Pelosi recently described Republican criticisms as "revisionist history" in an MSNBC interview, a remark that clashes with the narrative emerging from the new footage.
Loudermilk has promised further investigation to reveal more facts, stressing the importance of transparency for the American public.
“My committee will continue to investigate and expose all the facts. The American people deserve the truth,” he proclaimed, indicating ongoing political tensions and the potential for more revelations.
