On Friday, Federal Judge Aileen Cannon, set former President Donald Trump’s classified documents trial to start on May 20, 2024, in Florida. This date falls after most of the Republican presidential primaries which will largely wrap up on March 12 and before the Republican national convention is scheduled for July 15-18.
According to the Associated Press, the trial date is seen as a compromise between a request from prosecutors to set the trial for this December, and a request from defense lawyers to schedule it after the 2024 presidential election. However, it may effectively disenfranchise GOP voters because, in the event that Trump is convicted, it may preclude Republicans from choosing a different candidate. At this time, Trump remains the clear frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination with the next presidential election set on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

“In pushing back the trial from the Dec. 11 start date that the Justice Department had asked for, Cannon wrote that “the Government’s proposed schedule is atypically accelerated and inconsistent with ensuring a fair trial.” She agreed with defense lawyers that the amount of evidence that would need to be sifted through before the trial, including classified information, was “voluminous and likely to increase in the normal course as trial approaches.”
“The Court finds that the interests of justice served by this continuance outweigh the best interest of the public and Defendants in a speedy trial,” Cannon wrote.
“In a statement referring to the Department of Justice, the Trump campaign called Cannon’s order “a major setback to the DOJ’s crusade to deny President Trump a fair legal process. The extensive schedule allows President Trump and his legal team to continue fighting this empty hoax.”

Trump has pled - not guilty - to 37 counts alleging that he willfully retained classified documents containing national defense information, conspired to obstruct justice and made false statements. Reportedly, both Trump and his aide Walt Nauta, have pled not guilty, to numerous charges of illegally keeping national defense records after leaving office and conspiring to hide them.
How this case moves forward is sure to provide the Republican party with challenges they never dreamed possible, but when you are doing battle with evil – who knows what may befall anyone. The Democratic party, is gasping for the very air they breathe when it comes to their absolute hatred of Donald Trump.
Their demonstration of late, in a show of political force and hatred toward Trump is unprecedented. They absolutely fear him for the voice of reason he espouses that Americans from many walks - agree with - like him or not.
Sadly, while the world is full of evil, that continues to loom large upon us, the news media continues to eat it up. Democrats are trying desperately to keep America’s focus off of Joe Biden and his administrations complex deceit, administrative blundering and the weaponization of our highest office of law enforcement in the country. Mainstream media is helping, by keeping the pot stirred well, hoping to distract voters from the reality of the totalitarianism that the left stands for – the new socialist America they want to establish.
Hopefully the American people will finally see just how much the progressive left does not care about the average American, nor the principles on which our republic was founded. The truth however – will have its day of reckoning.
