FBI Investigating New York City Mayor Eric Adams And Adviser Over China Trips, Yet Another Democrat Tied To The CCP

 June 27, 2024

The FBI is analyzing trips to China and private email usage involving New City Mayor Eric Adams and aide Winnie Greco, amidst allegations of corruption.

The New York Post reported that the investigation, which has stretched to include several governmental agencies, pivots primarily on the duo’s numerous trips to China and their communication through personal email accounts not linked to the city's official servers.

The inquiry brought to light that Adams, in his role as the Brooklyn Borough President from 2014 to 2021, made seven state visits to China, orchestrated by Greco.

These trips were not just diplomatic gestures but were also funded, in part, by the Chinese Communist Party, raising eyebrows about the nature and intent of these engagements. Considering President Joe Biden is already facing scrutiny over his ties to the CCP, it's worth wondering what other Democrats are compromised.

During these overseas visits, both Adams and Greco purportedly utilized their private emails to set agendas and communicate with foreign and domestic parties. This method of communication has sparked concerns regarding the transparency and security of sensitive information, traits highly valued in public office.

Winnie Greco’s Role and Potential Conflicts

Greco's involvement grew from a voluntary position at Adams' office to becoming a special adviser when he ascended to the mayor's role.

Her connection with the Sino-America New York Brooklyn Archway Association Corp, a nonprofit organization, also fell under scrutiny given her significant role in organizing the China trips.

The intertwining of her nonprofit work with her roles in public office has led to an examination of potential misuse of her position for personal benefit, further complicated by investigations into renovations made to her home, purportedly received as favors.

In February, a notable escalation occurred when federal agents conducted a raid on Greo's Bronx home. The raid resulted in the seizure of various items, which are now part of the evidence in the ongoing investigation against her.

The aftermath of these complex operations has led to difficulties for current Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso’s office in accessing records from Adams' tenure. Gregory Louis, general counsel for Reynoso’s office, expressed challenges in accessing these records, potentially because they were maintained on private servers rather than official city systems.

This lack of access complicates efforts to understand and evaluate the previous administration’s conduct fully.

In a quest to uncover the full scope of any potential legal breaches, the Department of Investigation has also joined the fray, focusing on the legality of the trips and the operations handled by Adams as borough president. Despite initial reviews by the Conflicts of Interest Board which saw no apparent legal violations specifically regarding the 2014 trip, the current situation points to a broader set of potential misuses of office.

Adding complexity to the ongoing probe, last year, federal agents seized numerous electronic devices from Adams himself.

This seizure was part of a separate probe into his campaign fundraising activities, where questions were raised about potential illegal contributions.

Amid these developing circumstances, Adams has maintained his stance, once noting in an email, "We have had great government meetings," which highlights his perspective on the effectiveness of the trips in fostering governmental relations. However, this assertive viewpoint does little to alleviate the growing concerns about the transparency and integrity of his administrative practices.

Evaluating the Impact of Disclosed Investigations

The investigations into Adams and Greco’s activities have shaken the political landscape of New City, raising pertinent questions about governance, accountability, and the implications of foreign interactions by local officials.

The unfolding of these events continues to attract attention from various quarters, including the media, regulatory bodies, and the general public.

This disquiet surrounding Mayor Eric Adams and Winnie Greco exemplifies the intricate balance between public service and personal conduct, emphasizing the scrutiny faced by public officials in the digital age. As investigations proceed, the public and governmental observers await definitive outcomes that could redefine administrative protocols and transparency in public office.
