DOGE finds two billion in taxpayer dollars earmarked for Stacey Abrams-linked organization

 February 21, 2025

Elon Musk's DOGE has found two billion in taxpayer dollars that have been directed toward an organization tied to Democrat Stacey Abrams.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that the $2 billion fund to Power Forward Communities from the Biden Administration to Abrams has raised serious concerns that the Biden administration was funneling billions to Democrat figures.

In late 2023, Power Forward Communities was established, entering the environmental sector with virtually no financial history, reporting a mere $100 in revenue within its first few months of operation.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), under the direction of the prior administration, awarded this newly founded nonprofit a massive $2 billion grant as part of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund program early in April 2024.

This grant allocation was part of a broader $20 billion fund aimed at reducing greenhouse gases, managed by the EPA. Interestingly, this considerable sum was deposited into a Citibank account with specific arrangements that limited both federal oversight and interference from subsequent administrations.

Power Forward Communities' Political Connections Spotlighted

Stacey Abrams, known for her political activism and affiliations with Vice President Kamala Harris and the green energy initiatives of the Biden administration, is closely associated with Power Forward Communities.

Not only did she campaign for Harris, but Abrams has also been involved with several of the group’s partner organizations such as Rewiring America and the Southern Economic Advancement Project.

The rapid funding of Power Forward Communities, despite its brief existence and minimal reported income, prompted suspicions of preferential treatment towards politically aligned organizations. This concern was particularly amplified given Abrams' active promotion of expanding clean energy access through such initiatives.

The substantial financial support aims to facilitate national upgrades in home energy efficiency, specifically transitioning from gas-powered to electric appliances—an endeavor aligned with the Biden administration's green goals.

Lee Zeldin, the current EPA administrator, expressed significant concerns about the transparency and appropriateness of this massive funding transfer. Zeldin’s investigations were focused on the integrity of the financial grant processes adopted by the previous administration.

Zeldin’s commitment to fiscal responsibility was highlighted in his statements expressing alarm over the scale of the grant relative to the organization's financial basis.

He remarked, "It’s extremely concerning that an organization that reported just $100 in revenue in 2023 was chosen to receive $2 billion. That’s 20 million times the organization’s reported revenue."

This criticism was amplified by the watchdog activities initiated under the new mandate by President Trump, which placed high importance on curtailing what was viewed as loose financial controls over environmental and climate-related funding.

Activist Groups Under Increased Scrutiny

The broader implications of such financial allocations have sparked a dialogue concerning the influence of political activism on resource distribution in line with environmental justice and climate equity goals.

Daniel Turner of Power the Future criticized the selection process as not merely irrational but fraudulent, given the inexperience and fiscal infancy of the recipient.

Stacey Abrams defended the initiative’s objectives on social media, asserting, "This is how we expand access to clean energy—by prioritizing housing, equity, and resilience." Her stance emphasizes the broader goals of inclusivity and sustainability that align with the agenda her affiliations endorse.

As the debate continues, the scrutiny over this funding allocation sheds light on the balancing act between advancing environmental goals and maintaining governmental accountability and ethical funding practices.

EPA’s continued review under Zeldin is set to determine the future handling of such significant government investments in climate resilience and green initiatives.
