Democrat Representative Accuses FBI And DOJ Of Blocking Trump Assassination Probe

A task force investigating the attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump is reportedly being stonewalled by key agencies withholding crucial data.

On July 13, a significant security incident targeted former President Donald J. Trump. An individual, referred to as the "Butler shooter," attempted to take his life, sparking a widespread investigation led by the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump.

This task force, chaired by Representative Jason Crow (D-CO), has faced considerable obstacles from the onset according to Breitbart.

Initially, the Secret Service, responsible for Trump's security, offered their full cooperation. They provided immediate and comprehensive information regarding the incident, which was critical given the high-profile nature of the attack.

However, Rep. Crow highlighted significant barriers when dealing with other key agencies. The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have been less forthcoming with information. This lack of cooperation has raised concerns about the transparency and effectiveness of the ongoing investigation.

Investigation Hindered By Lack Of Information

Representative Crow has voiced his frustration over the challenges in obtaining crucial details from the DOJ and FBI.

"The Secret Service was cooperative. We did have some challenges getting information from the Department of Justice and from the FBI," Crow stated. His task force has repeatedly reached out to these agencies seeking access to vital pieces of evidence that could shed light on the shooter's motives.

The DOJ has explained its reluctance to share information by citing ongoing criminal investigation concerns. They argue that releasing details might compromise their efforts. However, this stance has not sat well with the task force members, who believe it impedes necessary congressional oversight.

Crow argues for a balanced approach where ongoing criminal proceedings do not preclude the task force's access to information.

"Ongoing criminal investigations should not prevent congressional oversight, which is the highest level of oversight in America," he mentioned. Crow insists that mechanisms exist to share sensitive data securely, stressing the importance of understanding whether any other individuals were associated with the shooter.

The task force is particularly interested in the digital footprints left by the shooter, such as phone records and contacts, which could provide insights into whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger plot.

The inability to access this information is a major sticking point for the investigation, as it hampers their ability to draw comprehensive conclusions.

The Struggle For Clarity

Rep. Crow's commitment to uncovering the truth remains undeterred despite these setbacks.

"We want to have the digital analysis of his phone, his contacts, whether there were any other people that were affiliated with him," Crow emphasized.

The task force's dedication to piecing together this puzzle highlights the gravity of ensuring the safety of public figures and understanding the full scope of such assassination attempts.

As the days pass, the tension between the need for thorough congressional scrutiny and the integrity of the criminal investigation remains palpable.

Stakeholders from various sectors watch closely, as the outcome of this investigation could have broad implications for how sensitive national security information is handled between government entities.
