DACA Illegal Alien, Freed by Sanctuary County, Sentenced to Life in Prison for Triple Murder

 January 30, 2023

Once enrolled in former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, illegal alien 27-year-old Luis Perez, was previously freed by a sanctuary county, and has been now been convicted / sentenced to life in prison, after murdering three Americans. According to the Springfield News-Leader, Perez, was sentenced after being found guilty in October of three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of assault.

Perez, an illegal alien from Mexico, was sentenced to five consecutive life sentences, after having been found guilty last year of murdering 38-year-old Steven Marler, 23-year-old Josh Hampton, and a woman accused of being an accomplice to Marler and Hampton’s murders. Perez was allowed to stay in the U.S. despite his illegal alien status, after receiving DACA protections in 2012 and 2014, according to Breitbart News.

In late 2017, he was arrested and charged with domestic violence in Middlesex County, New Jersey. At the time, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) asked for custody of Perez. His murders were reportedly, occurred later in Missouri, after the New Jersey jurisdiction’s sanctuary policy, ensured he was released back into the community. In November of 2018, Perez showed up at Marler and Hampton’s residence, where he once lived, shooting them both to death. Police allege, that, driving the getaway car and the owner of the gun, he used to murder, was 21-year-old Sabrina Starr, whom apparently had been dating Hampton. Days later, reportedly Perez shot and killed Starr too.

In October of 2019, Hampton’s mother, Angel Mom, Deborah Elkins, broke her silence, advocating for Sen. Ted Budd’s (R-NC) “Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act.” The legislation would create a private right for Angel Families to sue sanctuary jurisdictions, for compensatory damages in civil court.

According to Breitbart News, Angel Parents met with House Republicans pleading with them to back the legislation in a future GOP-controlled Congress. Though Republicans have yet to introduce the bill in the House or Senate, the GOP has regained control of the House and Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has been sworn in as speaker.

This conviction will hopefully encourage other Angel Families, to seek retribution for the loss of family members to

these “protected illegals”, who commit crimes and are allowed to walk free, while families suffer. Hopefully, the bill will now make its way through Congress, and be enacted, since the concept of “sanctuary” continues to stand in these States and counties that protect these foreign criminals. Perz is but one example of the tragedy’s caused by these illegal aliens, who should be deported rather than protected. Sanctuary states and counties should be forced to pay for crimes that they support, by protecting these criminals.

“If he who breaks the law is not punished, he who obeys it is cheated. This, and this alone, is why lawbreakers ought to be punished: to authenticate as good, and to encourage as useful, law-abiding behavior. The aim of criminal law cannot be correction or deterrence; it can only be the maintenance of the legal order.
