CIA director wants criminal probe launched to investigate Clinton, Brennan over 2016 election

 July 28, 2025

CIA Director John Ratcliffe just dropped a bombshell that could spell disaster for Democrat heavyweights, according to The Washington Examiner.

Ratcliffe, alongside Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, is pushing to hold former Obama administration heavyweights like Hillary Clinton, John Brennan, and James Clapper accountable for what they call a politically motivated conspiracy against President Trump during the Russia investigation.

Let’s rewind to the heart of this saga: the 2016 election, when whispers of Russian interference first surfaced. The narrative, as pushed by some in the Obama administration, was that Trump’s campaign had cozy ties to Moscow.

But now, Ratcliffe and Gabbard are flipping the script, alleging foul play by those who were supposed to protect our democracy.

Unpacking the Alleged Conspiracy Against Trump

According to Ratcliffe, this wasn’t just a bad judgment call—it was a deliberate plot. He’s pointed fingers at Clinton, Brennan, and Clapper, claiming they orchestrated a campaign to tarnish Trump with flimsy evidence. If true, that’s not just politics; it’s a betrayal of trust at the highest level.

Ratcliffe didn’t mince words on Fox News, declaring, “They conspired against President Trump.” Well, if that’s the case, it’s no small accusation—it’s a call to revisit who undermined the American voter. One has to wonder if this was less about national security and more about securing power.

Adding fuel to the fire, Ratcliffe argued, “I don’t think statute of limitations is going to impact.” He’s suggesting that legal time limits won’t shield the accused because the conspiracy, in his view, is ongoing. That’s a bold stance, and it raises the stakes for what could be a historic legal showdown.

Meanwhile, Tulsi Gabbard has entered the fray by declassifying documents earlier this month that she claims expose the truth.

These papers, she asserts, show Obama administration officials directing efforts to link Trump to Russia with scant proof. It’s a serious charge that demands scrutiny, not dismissal.

Gabbard’s revelations paint a picture of intelligence being weaponized for political gain. If her claims hold water, this isn’t just a footnote in history—it’s a scandal that questions the integrity of our institutions. The public deserves answers, not partisan spin.

On the flip side, not everyone is buying this narrative. Some Senators are clinging to the 2020 Senate Intelligence Committee findings that confirmed Russian meddling in the 2016 election. They argue the focus should remain on foreign interference, not domestic witch hunts.

Democrats Push Back on Prosecution Threats

Then there’s the Democratic response, which has been predictably sharp. Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut called Gabbard’s push for prosecution “dangerous” and baseless. While criticism is fair, labeling it dangerous seems a tad dramatic—shouldn’t we at least debate the evidence?

Let’s not forget the 2020 Senate report, where then-Chairman Marco Rubio clarified that Trump wasn’t complicit in any collusion. That’s a key point often buried in the noise—Trump wasn’t the villain in that story. So why, one might ask, does the left keep circling back to him instead of addressing these new claims?

Special Counsel John Durham’s 2023 report also looms large, calling the FBI’s handling of the Trump-Russia probe “seriously deficient.”

That’s not a glowing endorsement of the original investigation. It lends credence to Ratcliffe and Gabbard’s push for accountability, even if it ruffles feathers.

Ratcliffe’s take on the statute of limitations is particularly intriguing. He insists, as he told Fox News, that the conspiracy’s ongoing nature resets the legal clock.

If he’s right, this could open the door to prosecutions long thought off the table—a game-changer, to say the least.

Of course, this whole effort faces an uphill battle with Democrats crying foul and some Senators standing by old conclusions. Yet, in a world where trust in government is already shaky, ignoring these allegations risks further eroding public faith. Transparency, not defensiveness, should be the guiding principle here.
