Biden Signs Same-Sex Marriage Bill Stating Its “Nothing More Decent, More Dignified, More American”

 December 14, 2022

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden signed a bill making same-sex marriage legal nationwide. He went on to describe it as, a victory for freedom in America. Biden said during his speech at the White House before the signing-

“There is nothing more decent, more dignified, more American about what we are doing here today,”

-President Joe Biden

Featuring several speakers, four musical performances, and remarks from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Vice President Kamala Harris and outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the White House seemed to pull out all the stops. Thousands of Democrats and activists cheered throughout the hour and 40 minutes long event, which included performances from singers, Sam Smith and Cyndi Lauper.

While celebrating the moment as a major victory, Biden warned that bigotry against gay people is still a problem.

In his address Biden said-

“This shouldn’t be about being conservative or liberal, red or blue, no this is about realizing the promise of the Declaration of Independence, a promise rooted in sacred and secular beliefs,” … “When a person can be married in the morning and thrown out of a restaurant for being gay in the afternoon, this is still wrong,”

-President Joe Biden

Referring to his 2015 comments, as vice president on Meet the Press, that famously upstaged President Barack Obama’s position change on gay marriage, and using the occasion as a promise to keep fighting for transgender rights. Biden stated-

“Marriage is a simple proposition. Who do you love?”…and he continued “We need to challenge the hundreds of callous, cynical laws introduced in the states targeting transgender children, terrifying families, and criminalizing doctors who give children the care they need,”… “We have to protect these children.”

As part of the fight to make abortion federally legal, VP Harris used her remarks to mark the moment, stating-

“For LGBTQI+ and interracial couples, this is a victory and part of a larger fight, the Dobbs’ decision reminds us that fundamental rights are interconnected, including the right to marry who you love, the right to access contraception, and the right to decisions about your own body,”

- Vice President Kamala Harris

As activists cheered, Biden handed Vice President Harris the pen, after signing the bill.

Clearly, this was a defining moment in U.S. History – where the radical, insidious opinions of a progressive few have worked hard to infiltrate and force their entrance into a once Judeo-Christian society, seemingly violating what “the family” actually stands for and consists of. A victory for the left, who like to act, as though they have all the answers – is but a fleeting moment in God’s eternity. His is the final word.

In the weeks and months ahead, conservatives, Republicans not lost in their own power-posturing and American citizens must prayerfully focus, on restoring what is possible of America’s moral compass - which has been stood on for decades now and appears to be most certainly broken.

“Much of the world's moral compass is broken. The moral north reads south and the moral south reads north.”
