Reportedly considering a plan to require illegal aliens with dubious asylum claims to remain in Texas, President Joe Biden’s’ efforts at this point, would see the Lone Star State absorb tens of thousands of illegal aliens every week.
According to anonymous sources from the Biden administration who spoke to the LA Times, the plan is being considered so that if newly arrived border crossers fail their initial asylum screenings, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents can more easily locate and deport the illegal aliens within Texas. They added that this is because these illegals would be close to the United States-Mexico border.
The Biden administration would use the Remain in Texas program to shield sanctuary states and cities from waves of illegal immigration that have spurred chaos in recent months. It is a way for him to pander to blue state governors and blue city mayors, in an election year, such as New York City’s Eric Adams, who claim they are being overrun with illegal migrants.
However, for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), the program would run exactly counter to his years-long efforts, to shield his state from record-breaking illegal immigration under Biden. Abbott, has used his migrant busing program, since spring of 2022, as an example, to send tens of thousands of illegal aliens to sanctuary cities as well as Vice President Kamala Harris’s residence.
According to the Times, the Remain in Texas program, would keep a select group of border crossers in Texas and track them using GPS monitoring, such as ankle bracelets. A regular part of the Biden administrations lax enforcement of federal immigration law, has been to oppose policies that seek to limit the movement of border crossers and illegal aliens, opting for an expansive Catch and Release program instead. One can only guess what’s changed his mind.
This program has essentially released millions of illegal migrants into American communities in the last two and a half years. It appears now for the sake of the nightmare Biden has created for all the states (especially the blue ones) he is choosing to make Texas a scapegoat. I’m sure Abbott will have his own plan for Biden’s foolish ideas.
