Afghans For Trump Prioritizing Foreign Policy In Upcoming Election As Decisive Factor

 November 3, 2024

Zoubair Sangi of Afghans for Trump criticizes Biden's Afghanistan policy, advocating a U.S. foreign policy shift in the election.

Fox News reported that in a striking critique of current U.S. foreign policy, Zoubair Sangi, the founder of the advocacy group Afghans for Trump, linked the Biden administration's approach in Afghanistan directly to the plight of its people under Taliban rule.

Sangi, whose family fled Afghanistan during the Soviet-Afghan war, uses his personal and familial experiences to shine a light on the dire situation in his homeland.

Three years ago, the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan swiftly, altering the lives of its citizens overnight.

The takeover led to severe restrictions, particularly affecting women and ethnic and religious minorities. Sangi points out that the absence of educational opportunities for women and increased terrorism are making life unbearable under Taliban rule.

Life Under Taliban Rule

According to Sangi, Afghans living under Taliban control compare their existence to being imprisoned. Fundamental freedoms have evaporated, and the community lives in constant fear of retribution for any suspected dissent.

Sangi elaborates on the horrors experienced by those suspected of resistance—kidnapping, imprisonment, torture, and execution have become horrifyingly routine.

The situation in Afghanistan has also seen rampant human rights abuses, as described by Sangi. The international community, particularly those who once promised to support Afghan democracy and human rights, seems to have turned a blind eye, according to him. This neglect has exacerbated the feeling of abandonment among the Afghan diaspora.

The flow of financial aid intended to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people has, according to Sangi and a World Bank report, been misappropriated by the Taliban.

About $2.9 billion, mainly originating from U.S. funds, has reportedly been used largely for military rather than humanitarian purposes. The Taliban's control over the central bank has allowed them to tax these cash inflows, further financing their regime.

Sangi condemns the Biden administration for the continuation of financial aid, which he claims is funneled to the Taliban's coffers rather than reaching the affected civilians.

Starvation and mass unemployment worsen as the funds meant to alleviate these issues are diverted. This misuse of aid has sparked outrage and calls for policy revisions among Afghan advocacy groups in the U.S.

National Security Concerns

Sangi also frames the issue as one of U.S. national security. The misuse of funds, according to him, directly impacts the stability of the region, which could have repercussions far beyond Afghanistan's borders. He stresses that the ongoing turmoil in Afghanistan should be addressed as it affects global security.

Amidst the chaotic situation, Sangi points to the National Resistance Front as a beacon of hope and moderation in Afghanistan.

This group, he believes, truly aligns with American values of democracy and human rights. Sangi advocates for the redirection of U.S. support to this faction instead of the current administration in power.

By supporting the National Resistance Front and stopping the misdirection of U.S. funds, Sangi hopes to initiate significant changes in U.S. foreign policy that mirror the values and security interests of both nations. His call to action is clear: reconsider current policies and support those who value freedom and democracy.
