Ad Network Owned By Microsoft, Using Foreign Disinformation ‘Experts’ To Blacklist Conservative Media Companies

A foreign think tank headquartered in the United Kingdom, The Global Disinformation Index (GDI), , released an assessment of American online media, designed to blacklist conservative media outlets and choke off their advertising revenue. The so called “Dynamic Exclusion List.” information is kept by GDI.

Ad networks, are now using this list, to refuse to allow advertising on conservative media websites. This includes most prominently Xandr, which is owned by Microsoft. Yet to respond to a request for a statement, regarding Xandr’s use of the Dynamic Exclusion List, which is censoring conservative outlets, Microsoft has declined to comment.

The GDI report covering the American online media spectrum, of over 69 news outlets, listed ten outlets as the most at risk, of spreading disinformation, with ten outlets that are the least likely to spread disinformation. Conservative sites were rated by GDI as having the highest risk for spreading disinformation, with liberal websites as the most trusted.

Many left-wing outlets, listed by the report as the least risky, include:

  • HuffPost
  • New York Times
  • The Washington Post
  • AP News
  • NPR
  • ProPublica
  • BuzzFeed News
  • USA Today
  • Insider
  • Wall Street Journal

By contrast, the outlets at most risk, of sharing disinformation were right-leaning, include:

  • New York Post
  • RealClearPolitics
  • Reason Magazine
  • The Federalist
  • The Daily Wire
  • The Blaze
  • One America News Network
  • The American Conservative
  • Newsmax
  • The American Spectator

Declining media requests for comment on their lists, GDI did not respond to requests on multiple occasions.  Most recently, they were reportedly asked on December 13, December 27, January 5, and January 23, by press inquiries.  Refusing to release its Dynamic Exclusion List,  despite assertions on GDI’s website, that its work is guided by “neutrality”, “independence” and “transparency”, the ad network has refused to disclose their full List.

GDI was founded by Clare Melford, former CEO of the International Business Leaders Forum and managing director of MTV Networks, Nordics, and Professor Daniel Rogers, founder of Terbium Labs, an information security / dark web intelligence startup, who worked in the American intelligence community, and as an adjunct professor at New York University, and is currently a fellow at the Truman National Security project, where Biden National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, is a Board Member.

GDI also receives taxpayer money from the U.S. State Department’s, Global Engagement Center (GEC), according to The Daily Caller News Foundation. It would appear that any organization can qualify for taxpayer funding – if it’s fringe-enough. GDI also claims that bias, sensationalism, and targeting often result in disinformation, adding that the highest risk for spreading disinformation sites-

“published content with far fewer fact-based Ledes and far more Bias, Negative targeting and Sensational language than the rest of the sample.”

-The Global Disinformation Index

They define disinformation as-

“adversarial narratives, which are intentionally misleading; financially or ideologically motivated; and/or, aimed at fostering long-term social, political or economic conflict; and which create a risk of harm by undermining trust in science or targeting at-risk individuals or institutions.”

-The Global Disinformation Index

So, essentially the GDI creates a system like the famous futuristic, “Minority Report,” where, the disinformation think tank, attempts to predict, if a media outlet is in danger of spreading disinformation. This is because there doesn’t have to be any facts to back it up, and all claims can be discretionary on the part of those making the accusations – calling conservative outlets

adversarial, sensational, and targeting their reporting, that is not necessarily reporting, that is false.

In order to choke off their advertising revenue via its Dynamic Exclusion List, this Global Disinformation Index, as a foreign think tank, has injected itself into the American landscape, to blacklist conservative media outlets. Conversely, it ignores the past biases, inaccuracies, and targeting narratives of establishment, left-wing outlets such as the New York Times, HuffPost, NPR, and the Associated Press.

This is again U.S. Tax-dollars at work, attempting to snuff out the freedom of the press. What this entity thinks or conjectures is more important than the actual truth. Institutions using GDI are insidiously working, in opposition to the U.S. Constitution.

Americans would do well to consider those conservative outlets that this organization considers “at risk for spreading disinformation” as a surer way to get the truth of a matter. There is something to be said for being targeted as a media risk by this particular organization – an almost badge of courage or conservative seal of approval.

“The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.”
