House Rejects Impeachment Push Against Trump by Rep. Green

 December 13, 2025

The latest attempt to oust President Donald Trump through impeachment has crashed and burned in the House of Representatives.

According to Breitbart, on Thursday night, the House decisively voted to table a motion introduced by Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, to impeach the president, with a tally of 237 to 140 and 47 members voting “present.”

This saga began when Rep. Green pushed for a vote on Wednesday, demanding action against Trump for what he sees as grave offenses.

Green's Bold Move Meets Resistance

Not content to let the issue rest, Green formally introduced H.R. 939 on Thursday, accusing Trump of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., quickly countered with a motion to table Green’s resolution, effectively halting the impeachment effort in its tracks.

The vote revealed a surprising bipartisan pushback, as 23 Democrats crossed the aisle to join Republicans in shutting down the measure.

Democrats Split on Impeachment Vote

Among those Democrats voting to table were Reps. Tom Suozzi of New York, Jared Golden of Maine, and Sharice Davids of Kansas, showing a notable fracture within the party.

Even more telling, 47 Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York and Minority Whip Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, opted for a “present” vote, a move that Axios noted included last-minute switches from “yes” to “present.”

This isn’t the first time Green’s efforts have fizzled; a prior attempt in June saw 128 Democrats side with all 216 Republicans to reject a similar measure by a whopping 344-79 margin.

Green's Passionate Plea Falls Flat

Green didn’t hold back in his rhetoric, calling Trump “an abuser of presidential power” as he urged his colleagues to act.

While Green’s fervor is undeniable, one has to wonder if labeling a sitting president in such terms without broad party support is more theatrical than tactical—especially when nearly two dozen of his own party members aren’t buying the pitch. Green also invoked civil rights icons, pleading with lawmakers to “take a stand” in the name of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga.

Conservative View on Impeachment Drama

Let’s be honest: Green’s stand, while passionate, seems more like a solo performance than a chorus of agreement, especially when top Democratic leaders like Jeffries and Clark couldn’t even muster a firm “yes” or “no.”

From a conservative angle, this repeated push for impeachment feels like a distraction from addressing real issues—like securing borders or curbing inflation—that Americans actually care about, rather than rehashing partisan grudges.

Ultimately, the House’s rejection of this motion, with significant Democratic defections, signals that even within the left’s ranks, there’s little appetite for what many see as a political stunt, leaving Green standing alone in a fight that’s unlikely to gain traction anytime soon.
