Federal judge permits deportation of suspected terrorist’s family

 July 4, 2025

In a stunning courtroom decision, a federal judge has greenlit the deportation of the family of a man accused of a horrifying terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado.

Breitbart reported that a U.S. District Court judge dismissed a lawsuit that sought to keep the family of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an unauthorized migrant from Egypt charged with a deadly firebombing, from being removed from the country by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The incident that sparked this legal battle unfolded last month at the Park Street Mall in Boulder, where Soliman allegedly targeted a pro-Israel demonstration with Molotov cocktails and a makeshift flamethrower.

Several individuals were injured in the violent outburst, and tragically, 82-year-old Karen Diamond succumbed to her injuries.

Soliman, now facing over 70 charges including first-degree murder and hate crimes, reportedly shouted “Free Palestine” before launching his attack, according to Breitbart News. If true, this adds a chilling political layer to an already heinous act, though it’s worth asking if such rhetoric should overshadow the raw human loss here.

Video evidence reportedly captures Soliman throwing flames, even accidentally igniting himself, while another clip shows him shirtless, shouting at bystanders as others tried to aid an injured person. The chaos of those moments paints a grim picture of a man seemingly consumed by rage, leaving one to wonder how such hatred festers unchecked.

Family’s Legal Battle Ends in Dismissal

Before the attack, Soliman recorded a video manifesto while driving, declaring, “Allah is greater than anything.”

He went on to say, “Allah is greater than the Zionists, Allah is greater than America and its weapons.” Such statements, while protected as speech, raise serious questions about the mindset behind the violence, and whether our immigration vetting processes are equipped to catch warning signs early.

Soliman and his family—his wife and five children—were in the United States on expired visas, per the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and were taken into custody by ICE following the attack. It’s a stark reminder of the complexities of immigration enforcement, especially when families are entangled in such grave accusations.

Initially, a federal judge had blocked the deportation of Soliman’s family, but on July 2, 2025, U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia reversed course, dismissing their lawsuit to be released from ICE custody.

Judge Garcia stated, “The Court finds that Petitioners’ habeas proceeding and their claims in this case must be and hereby are DISMISSED WITHOUT PREJUDICE.” This ruling cuts through progressive arguments for leniency, prioritizing national security over extended legal wrangling.

The demonstrators Soliman allegedly targeted were advocating for Israeli hostages held by Hamas, a cause that now carries an even heavier weight after this tragedy. One can’t help but feel for those who gathered peacefully, only to face such brutality—free expression shouldn’t come at the cost of safety.

Former President Donald Trump weighed in, declaring, “terrorism WILL NOT BE TOLERATED,” and insisting Soliman “must go out under ‘TRUMP’ policy,” as reported by Breitbart News.

While Trump’s tough talk resonates with many frustrated by lax border policies, it’s worth pondering if deportation alone addresses the deeper failures that allowed this situation to spiral.

National Security Takes Center Stage

The DHS has made it clear that Soliman’s family, also in the country without legal status, will now face removal proceedings following the judge’s decision.

This move signals a hard line on immigration enforcement, especially in cases tied to alleged terrorism, though it’s heartbreaking to consider the impact on the children caught in this mess.

As this case unfolds, it underscores a broader tension between compassion and security in our immigration system.

The violence in Boulder is a tragic wake-up call, urging a reevaluation of how we handle unauthorized migrants with potential ties to extremist views, without losing sight of the human toll on all sides.

Surely, there’s a way to balance justice with empathy, even in the face of such darkness.
